What changed in 2026
- January 15, 2026: the lightest standard tier (0–0.5 lb) dropped from $1.04 to $0.84 per unit. Other tiers were unchanged. Orders created before that date kept the old rates.
- March 1, 2026: Amazon started charging removal and disposal fees per unit as each unit is removed or disposed of, instead of once when the whole order completes.

Frequently asked questions
Are removal and disposal fees the same?
Yes. Amazon uses one per-unit rate card for both returning units to you and disposing of them, based on the item's size tier and shipping weight.
When does Amazon charge the removal fee?
For orders created on or after March 1, 2026, Amazon charges the fee per unit as each unit is removed or disposed of. Before that, it charged once when the whole order completed.
What changed in the 2026 removal fees?
From January 15, 2026 the fee for the lightest standard-size tier (0–0.5 lb) dropped from $1.04 to $0.84 per unit. The other tiers stayed the same.
Do I get the removal fee back if Amazon loses the units?
If units are lost or damaged by Amazon during a removal, you can file a claim within the removal claim window. Removal claims are not reimbursed automatically, so check each shipment against what arrives.
