What counts as a fulfillment center claim
This covers eligible units that are lost or damaged inside an Amazon fulfillment center, or a facility operated for Amazon, after Amazon received them from you — misplaced during storage, damaged while picking or moving, and so on. These events are reported in your Inventory Defect & Reimbursement (IDR) portal and the Inventory Ledger report.
The 60-day window
You must file no later than 60 days after the date the item was reported lost or damaged. The clock starts when the defect appears, not when you notice it — so an unchecked portal is money expiring.
Use the Inventory Defect & Reimbursement portal
- Eligible for claim. Every lost or damaged defect you can claim. Filter by FNSKU or defect type.
- In progress. Defects Amazon is already investigating — don't file these again.
- Resolved. What Amazon decided and paid. If you disagree with a resolution, you can file a claim from here.
To file: for damaged items use the transaction item ID; for lost items use the FNSKU. Amazon may ask for the date or the fulfillment center ID where it happened.
Don't let the 60-day clock run out.
Sellerfy flags what Amazon lost, damaged or underpaid — and drafts the claim. 0% commission.
How much Amazon pays
Warehouse losses happen before a customer order, so Amazon reimburses your sourcing cost, up to $5,000 per unit. Items already unsellable when lost are reimbursed at a reduced estimated cost. Keep your sourcing costs current on the Manage Your Sourcing Cost page — otherwise Amazon uses its own estimate. If a payment looks low, dispute it within 60 days of the reimbursement.
